Non alcoholic fatty liver disease is slated to become the #1 reason for liver transplants in the next 10-15 years, displacing hepatitis C and alcoholism. 88% of people with metabolic syndrome have underlying fatty liver disease as well. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is insidious, has no major symptoms, and can lead to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Lifestyle and dietary modification are sufficient to prevent and even reverse NAFLD. Special considerations should also be given towards specific botanicals and nutrients.
