A holistic approach to chronic disease assessment and management includes evidence-informed nutrition and exercise prescriptions. Through metabolic analysis of cardiorespiratory fitness and muscle oxygen utilization, these prescriptions can also be individualized. In this session Dr. Duizer describes how he uses a metabolic analysis device in clinical practice to assess cardiorespiratory fitness, and near infrared spectroscopy to assess muscle oxygen utilization at rest and during exercise. He also highlights how this kind of in-office testing results in improved patient outcomes through appropriate prescribing and tracking.
