Description

Dr. Sandberg-Lewis (SS-L) will present an overview of the etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, standard treatment, and Naturopathic integrative treatment of lymphocytic colitis and collagenous colitis. These are the two forms of microscopic colitis. As the name states clearly, these have a completely normal gross appearance on colonoscopy - unlike other forms of IBD. Diagnosis is totally based on the biopsy. SS-L's experience with dozens of these cases has produced a framework which has resulted in excellent remission and prevention of flares. He will share this framework which connects SIBO, celiac, and autoimmunity.

Dr. Steven Sandberg-Lewis has been a practicing naturopathic physician for over 40 years. He teaches gastroenterology and GI physical medicine at the National University of Natural Medicine. His private practice is at Hive Mind Medicine in Portland, Oregon. He is a popular international lecturer at functional medicine seminars and is frequently interviewed on issues of digestive health and disease. He is the author of the column entitled “Functional Gastroenterology Bolus” in the Townsend letter and the author of the medical textbook Functional Gastroenterology: Assessing and Addressing the Causes of Functional Digestive Disorders, Second edition (2017).
