In this presentation we will review common dermatologic conditions including acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, hair loss, wounds, and scars. From there we will discuss common treatments and consider optimization of options via customized medication options. This is a practitioner summary of the Bastyr clinical pharmacology course with a focus on compounded customized treatment options. The goal is to enlighten prescribers on best practices and novel formulations that may benefit the patient satisfaction and health.
Dr. Dawn Ipsen is the owner and pharmacist of Clark’s Compounding Pharmacy in Bellevue, WA, and Kusler’s Compounding Pharmacy in Snohomish, WA. Dawn graduated in 2001 with a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Washington, where she received the Dean’s Outstanding Service Award. She holds memberships with the Alliance for Pharmacy Compounding and Washington State Pharmacy Association. She is a Clinical Instructor for the University of Washington School of Pharmacy and an Affiliate Faculty Member for Bastyr University. She is a Pharmacist Preceptor for Washington State and teaches Doctorate of Pharmacy students. Dawn also serves on the Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA) Advisory Counsel and is Chair of the WSPA Compounding Special Interest Group. She was named UW School of Pharmacy 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award for Excellence in Pharmacy Practice. Dawn has presented on the topic of pharmaceutical compounding to healthcare provider, patient, and peer groups. She is dedicated to helping her community find solutions to medication problems through personalized medication therapies.
