When I began my private practice, my most trusted interventions were on the level of the fluid body with visceral and cranial work. Now, nearly 20 years later, I’m surprised to find that my most difficult physical medicine cases are often helped by a novel application of the modality I was least confident with at the outset: homeopathy. Over time, however, I have gained confidence working at the intersection of these methodologies, and my trust has been bolstered from consistently seeing remedies correct subjective and objective physical findings right on my treatment table - and often these were physical issues that did not seem responsive to physical medicine treatments alone. I will elaborate on my experiences by explaining how I use these modalities together and what specific physical findings and changes I observe with various remedies. I will also include discussion of cases, possible mechanisms at play (including placebo), and implications for practice.
Greg Yasuda, ND, VNMI, is a 2003 graduate from Bastyr University. As a didactic and clinical faculty member there since 2008 and the Associate Dean of Academics from 2018-2021, he has placed a strong emphasis on holism, helping students and patients capitalize on their unique strengths in navigating their journeys toward health and healing. His areas of particular interest include physical medicine, philosophy and the role of belonging as a social determinant of health as well as a means of understanding group dynamics and promoting inclusivity.
