Physicians and the general population are beginning to understand the connection between living a conscious life and the importance of dying consciously. Through documentation of experiences such as near death, children remembering clearly and accurately a past life, and research through psychedelic medical sessions---knowledge of death is becoming extremely helpful in how we live our lives. This presentation explores three areas of the dying process:
1) That a life threatening diagnosis or the process of aging, as a wake up call, with the realization that life is a constant process that ends in death. Thus for many, the conscious decision of the importance as to how we live our lives now is becoming a paradigm shift for many individuals including physicians and their patients.
2) Emphasis is provided on conscious dying, using various perspectives from ancient Egyptian, Greek, Hindu and Celtic history, Anthroposophical medicine, Tibetan teachings on death, and a unique view of Native American Shaman work in a pediatric ICU to support dying children and parents. All serve to support a process of healing in death and beyond.
3) Exploration of options available for decisions of the individual themselves prior to death or by the loved ones after death. These include options for natural death, VSED, green burials, ceremony and more. In addition the importance of grief support for all before and after death, is provided according to the 11 Tenants for Caring by Dr. Wolfelt.
Naturopathic Physicians and other providers who have patients nearing death now and in the future will benefit from this presentation. How we die is becoming recognized as a process, one that is just important as how we live our lives.
