As we face the challenges of an aging population globally, the role of cross-cultural communication in healthcare is crucial for fostering environments where both patients and healthcare professionals can thrive. Longevity is not only about extending life but enhancing its quality through connectedness, empathy, and resiliency. This session explores the importance of cross-cultural communication in promoting personal empowerment, emotional intelligence, and team cohesiveness, which are essential in nurturing long, healthy lives. Attendees will gain practical insights and actionable steps to integrate these values into their naturopathic practices, contributing to both organizational success and patient well-being.

Dr. Jeremy Holloway, PhD, has served as an Assistant Professor and Director of Geriatric Education at the University of North Dakota, an is now Health Equity Professor at Highlands University. His research focuses on social determinants of health, particularly self-efficacy, connectedness, and resilience among older adults. Dr. Holloway has developed a comprehensive intergenerational curriculum that integrates growth mindset principles, reminiscence therapy, mindfulness, guided imagery, and S.M.A.R.T. goal-setting practices to empower older adults and enhance their well-being. These best practices are designed to address critical issues such as loneliness and social isolation, promoting both physical and emotional wellness.

An advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, Dr. Holloway is especially committed to addressing the impact of social determinants of health across all populations. His work emphasizes the importance of equity in healthcare and strives to create supportive environments that foster thriving communities, especially among vulnerable and aging populations.
