We are ELATED to share that - with the supportive weigh in of hundreds of naturopathic physicians and literally thousands of health care practitioners from across the state - the bill we've highlighted that would require annual cost of living adjustments for any contracted health care practitioner in private practice is gaining momentum! This coming Tuesday, January 30, is set to be a big day for this effort and we need you to do exactly what you did at the beginning of this week again!

There is now a companion bill to House Bill 1655 - Concerning provider contract compensation, and Senate Bill 6161 (same bill, but different legislative chamber means different bill number and a different committee) is scheduled for a public hearing in the Senate Committee on Health & Long Term Care on Tuesday morning at 8a. That means we need YOU to sign in PRO on SB 6161 no later than 7a that morning. Here's how:

  1. Go to https://app.leg.wa.gov/csi and select "Senate".
  2. Choose "Health & Long Term Care" from the "Committee" drop down menu.
  3. Select "01/30/24 8:00 AM" from the "Meetings" drop down menu.
  4. Click on the circle next to "SB 6161 Provider contract comp." to select that bill and then click on "I would like my position noted for the legislative record."
  5. Select "Pro" under the "Position" drop down menu and then include all of the fields required.
  6. Click on "Submit Registration" to get your PRO sign in recorded.

(If you would like to include written testimony to explain how this bill would positively impact your ability to practice and care for your patients, follow all of the same steps as above, but click on "I would like to submit written testimony" in step 4.)

***Again, you must take action before 7a on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, for your position to be noted!***

Rest assured: there is tremendous coordination and collaboration happening among every type of health care practitioner in Washington and the WANP is actively engaged in this coalition. We will communicate exactly what we need from our community to help advance this effort. We can't do it without you, so please continue to monitor your email and share our calls to action and social media posts to spread the word and keep this momentum building.
