Dr. Kathryn Hightower (she/they) focuses on mental health, gender affirming care, pain management, and hormone replacement therapy for all genders. She is especially passionate about caring for her LGBTQIA+ community and peri/postmenopausal people.
Her additional special skills include blood draws, IVs, port access for people with cancer, therapeutic injections, Kinesio Taping, biofeedback, visceral manipulation, and hydrotherapy. She is happy to provide whatever treatment is most appropriate to the situation.
Most of all, she values her therapeutic relationship with her patients as the primary vehicle for healing.
Dr. Hightower is passionate about gender affirming healthcare. She frequently engages in research and public speaking on the topic, in order to educate her colleagues on the truth about this vital medicine.
Her education includes a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University. Following her graduation in 2019, she completed two years of residency through the Institute for Natural Medicine at Emerald City Naturopathic Clinic. She then continued to work there for two additional years as an Associate Physician.
She balances empathy with efficiency, prioritizes her patient’ health goals, and communicates directly yet compassionately. She is detail-oriented, organized, and proactive.
Dr. Hightower models self-compassion and life balance by remaining an active member of the local dance community. She teaches, choreographs, and performs regularly, and even recently founded a tap dance collective. Her other interests include cooking, crocheting, gardening, and reading. You can equally catch her at a silent reading party as at a ‘90s throwback dance party. Her friends describe her as “sparkly,” and she loves helping you find your own spark.
