Dr. Charissa Fotinos brings a broad health care and leadership background to lead the Washington State Medicaid program and behavioral health integration at the Washington State Health Care Authority. Dr. Fotinos specializes in addiction medicine, and is a leader in health care delivery systems, integrated care, linkage between public health and health care, and improving access to and the care of persons with substance use and mental health disorders.
Prior to her current appointment, she served as the Chief Medical Officer for Public Health – Seattle and King County. Previously, she was a physician-faculty member at the Providence Family Medicine Residency in Seattle.
Dr. Fotinos has focused her career on providing care to and improving the systems of care for underserved populations. She has helped to develop mobile programs for the delivery of health care to people experiencing homelessness. She holds a Master of Science in evidence-based health care from Oxford University, Kellogg College, in England and is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Washington in the Department of Family Medicine.
