The intersection of pharmacology and longevity science has revealed exciting possibilities for repurposing existing medications to support healthy aging and extend health span. Among the most promising agents are GLP-1 receptor agonists and metformin, originally developed for managing type 2 diabetes. Emerging evidence suggests these medications exert profound effects beyond glycemic control, targeting fundamental aging processes such as inflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and cellular repair mechanisms. This presentation will explore the evidence supporting the use of these medications and others in anti-aging and longevity, with a focus on their potential mechanisms of action.
