Recognizing eating disorders, addressing mental health and behavioral habits are crucial in the comprehensive care and treatment of obesity. This presentation will review the most common eating disorders, mental health, and behavioral health concurrent in obesity.
Dr. Christine James earned her doctorate in naturopathic medicine at Bastyr University in 2009. She completed an 8-month externship with an invasive cardiologist where she received advanced training in conventional and integrative cardiovascular care. This was followed by extended training in sleep medicine while developing a weight management program in a sleep medicine center. At this time, she pursued advanced training in obesity medicine through the Obesity Medicine Association, obtaining over 100 CME hours, and recently served on the membership committee. She also completed an 80-hour course to obtain certification in Functional Obesity Medicine from A4M.
Dr. James owns Sound Medical Weight Loss, located in Kirkland, Washington. Her holistic and evidence-based medical weight loss programs address comorbidities, diet, exercise, and lifestyle, beliefs, emotions, eating disorders and behaviors.
In addition to medical assessment, metabolic analysis, and individualized weight loss plans, her programs offer advanced testing for food sensitivities, weight related genetics, gut biome analysis, and hormone panels, to identify underlying factors inhibiting weight loss. Any weight loss program would be amiss without a behavioral component. Dr. James often leads her patients through a deep and transformative process during their weight management journey using her empathy and experience in transformational processes.
**This presentation is worth 1 Category 1 CE for Washington-licensed NDs.**
